Bankroll and stake sizing

Quick answer
Your bankroll and risk tolerance are inputs DawBets multiplies to suggest a stake on new bets — they are not a balance. Nothing debits your bankroll, and changing it never restates a dollar of profit or ROI in My Bets.
Bankroll is an input, not a balance
The Bankroll setting is one number DawBets multiplies to size the stake it suggests on a new bet. That is all it does. No tracked bet debits it, there is no running balance in the app, and changing it does not restate a dollar of profit, ROI or CLV in My Bets — that page is built from the stakes you actually recorded.
Enter the money you have set aside for betting
Not your savings, not your bank balance. Every recommended stake in the app is a fraction of this number, so an inflated bankroll inflates every suggestion you will ever see.
The three settings, and what each one moves
Wager sizing has three controls. Bankroll is the pot every suggestion is a fraction of. Risk Tolerance picks which fraction of the Kelly stake to use — a bigger fraction is a bigger stake on the same bet, never a better bet. Round wagers to snaps the result to a dollar step last of all, to the *nearest* step, so it can round a stake up.
That is the whole of what they do. How we size your wager works the maths through with examples — the Kelly fractions, the extra cut on player props, and where rounding stops applying.
Where to change it, and what moves when you do
On the web the controls are in Settings, under My Wager Sizing. There is no Save button — each one takes effect as you set it, and the worked example underneath recalculates so you can read the dollar difference before committing. Leave the bankroll blank or at zero and sizing falls back to a built-in default rather than recommending nothing.
On iOS: Settings > Wager sizing. The same three controls and the same worked example; the row in Settings shows your current bankroll, or Not set.
New suggestions change immediately, everywhere the app prints a stake: the feed card, the Track sheet, the parlay builder. Nothing already tracked moves — a tracked bet stores the dollars you actually staked, and every figure on My Bets is computed from those.

Sizing in your own dollars is a paid feature. On Free, bet cards show a flat example stake instead of one sized to you — current plans are on the pricing page.
When there is no suggested stake
On a Fan Bet or a Caution Bet, and on any row we could not price at all, Kelly's answer is "do not bet" — so the bet card prints no stake rather than a made-up one. Bet badges explained covers what earns each badge.
On the web: The Track sheet leaves Wager empty on those bets, and the Track button stays disabled until you type an amount. That is deliberate: an empty field is a decision you make, not a number we picked for you.
On iOS: The iPhone stake sheet still pre-fills a figure on those bets. It is a default, not a recommendation — set the amount yourself before you track.
Bet responsibly
Sizing rules manage risk; they do not remove it. Sports betting is 21+ and legal only in some states, an edge is not income, and no stake size makes a losing run impossible. If betting has stopped being fun, read our responsible-gambling resources.
Common questions
Does changing my bankroll change my past profit?
No. Bankroll only affects the stake DawBets suggests on new bets. Your tracked history is real dollars at the stakes you recorded, and nothing restates it.
Does DawBets track my actual bankroll balance?
No. There is no running balance and no unit ledger. My Bets shows the real profit and loss of the bets you tracked; your bankroll setting sits entirely outside that.
What does "Kelly" actually mean?
It is a staking rule that scales a bet to the size of its edge — bigger edge, bigger stake — so a losing run does proportionally less damage. DawBets always suggests a fraction of it, never full Kelly. [How we size your wager](/help/how-we-size-your-wager) has the fractions.
Do I have to bet the stake DawBets suggests?
No. The Wager field in the Track sheet is pre-filled from your settings and is yours to overwrite before you confirm — what gets recorded is whatever number is in the field when you tap Track. A suggested stake is a ceiling, not a target.
I raised my risk tolerance and my ROI did not move. Why?
Because the setting only sizes stakes you have not placed yet. Every figure on My Bets is computed from the dollars stored on bets you already tracked, and no setting restates them.
