Profit boosts, and what makes one +EV

What a boost actually pays

A profit boost lifts your profit, not your stake and not the odds themselves. Win $10 at +150 and the book pays $15 profit; with a 50% boost it pays $22.50. Your $10 stake comes back either way, which is why the boosted price is +225 and not +300.

The longer the price, the more of your total return the boost lifts. On a heavy favourite most of what comes back is your own stake, which no boost touches — so the same token is worth far more on a long prop or a parlay than on a -300 moneyline.

Why a boost can rescue a losing price

Expected value (EV) is what a bet averages if you could take it over and over, written as a percentage of your stake. DawBets works it out by comparing the price you are offered against the fair price — the same market with the sportsbook’s cut stripped out. Shorter than fair loses money over time; longer than fair makes it.

A boost moves only one side of that comparison: it improves your price without the market having been mispriced first. A boost big enough will push a bet that was slightly worse than fair over the line, and will push an already positive edge further. That is why the web feed re-sorts itself once a boost is on — the best boosted bet is not always the one that was on top before.

   Open Profit Boost on the bet feed

   The lightning pill sits in the action row above the cards on the bet feed. Pick the sportsbook running the promotion, type the percentage, and tap Apply Boost — it stays disabled until you have given it both. This is a Plus feature.

   The feed reprices around it

   Only bets that book prices stay on screen, including its own price for a bet you first saw somewhere else. Every card’s price, EV, suggested wager and badge are recalculated, and the list is re-ordered by boosted EV.

   Clear it when the token is spent

   The pill turns amber and shows your percentage. The × beside it removes the boost and hands the whole board back.

   Or build a parlay around it

   The Boost Builder has its own Boost % field that applies to the finished ticket. It is a Pro feature. The field starts at a common promotion size rather than blank, so type your book’s real number over it; set it to zero and the ticket shows plain, unboosted combined odds. Using the Boost Builder walks through the rest of the form.

Reading a boosted card

On the web feed a boosted card shows the original price struck through beside the boosted one, and a small lightning chip carrying your percentage sits next to the badge. The EV, the suggested wager and the payout are all the boosted numbers, not the originals.

The badge is re-derived from the boosted EV on the same ladder every other surface uses, so a colour means exactly what it always meant — Badges explained covers what each rung is for:

What a boost does not change

• ●The fair price. A boost changes what the book will pay you, never the chance the bet wins. The fair number on the card is untouched.
• ●Whether the bet is a good idea on its own. A long price with a big boost on it still loses most of the time — that is what a long price means.
• ●Books you have no boost at. A percentage typed against the wrong book would be advertising a payout nobody will honour, so the feed only ever applies it at the one book you named.
