Parlay vs SGP vs SGPx

The three modes at a glance

SGPx is not a third product. It is a same-game parlay with the one-game restriction lifted, and every leg still has to be one your sportsbook will price inside an SGP. Whichever mode you are in, a parlay lives at one sportsbook — you cannot mix books.

Why same-game is priced differently

Legs from different games do not move each other, so a standard parlay can be priced by multiplying the legs. Legs from one game very much do move each other: if a team wins, its starting pitcher is likelier to have gone deep, and the game total is likelier to have landed a certain way. That is correlation, and it is why a book prices a same-game parlay as one ticket instead of multiplying its parts.

So we do not multiply either. On an SGP or SGPx the price in your slip is a live quote from your sportsbook, shown next to what other books quote for the same combination. On a standard parlay it is our own multiplication — sound arithmetic for independent legs, but not a price any book has confirmed.

Building one from the bet feed

   Tap Parlay on a bet card

   The button sits next to the sportsbook link on every card in the bet feed. Your parlay is pinned to that bet’s book from then on.

   Choose a mode

   The Start a Parlay sheet offers Standard Parlay or Same Game Parlay / SGPx. The second is greyed out — with the reason written underneath — when you are not on Pro, when the book does not do same-game parlays, or when that particular selection has no SGP price at that book.

   Add the rest of your legs

   The feed narrows to what you can actually add: the same book, and in SGP mode the same game. A Filtered by SGP game chip names the game you are pinned to.

   Broaden to SGPx if you want to

   Tap that chip to dismiss it and the feed opens back up to every game at your book. The ticket is still a same-game ticket as far as the book is concerned — it just spans games now.

Why a leg was refused

• ●It is on a different book. The slip says which book your parlay is pinned to. Clear the parlay to start again on another book.
• ●Two legs from one game, in standard mode. Standard parlays refuse it — switch to SGP mode for same-game legs — because multiplying correlated legs is exactly the mistake the modes exist to prevent.
• ●The selection has no SGP price. In SGP or SGPx mode every leg needs an SGP price at your pinned book. Plenty of markets do not have one — on the web the message reads *This selection cannot be included in an SGP on this sportsbook*.
• ●It is already in the slip, or the slip is full. A parlay has a leg cap; when you reach it the slip refuses the next leg and tells you so.

Which mode gives you an edge number

A standard parlay shows a fair price and an EV percentage straight away, because independent legs can be combined honestly.

A same-game ticket only gets one when our correlation engine has measured that exact combination, which is a narrow slice of the board. Short of that there is nothing honest to publish, so the slip shows the book’s price and the cross-book comparison and no edge at all. That is the outcome, not a bug — When we can’t price your parlay sets out what the engine needs and what each message means.

SGPx never gets a fair price at all. Every correlation we have measured is a within-one-game number, so the moment a ticket spans games there is nothing sound to price it against.
