Search and the command palette
Finding bets · Web & iOS · Last updated August 28, 2026
Quick answer
Press Cmd+K (Ctrl+K on Windows) anywhere in the app to open the command palette, then type a team, game, player or market. The Games page also has its own search bar with voice input. Both search the live board — they will not find a game that is not on it yet.
Opening search
- Keyboard, anywhere in the app:
Cmd+Kon a Mac,Ctrl+Kon Windows. The same shortcut closes it again. - Desktop: the Search button at the top of the left sidebar, with the shortcut printed on it.
- Mobile: the magnifying-glass button on the bottom tab bar, or the wide search button near the top of Explore.
- On [Games](/games): that page has its own search bar, above the list. It is a separate control with a few extras — see below.
The shortcut needs the app running
Reading pages — this help centre, the learn guides, state and comparison pages — deliberately ship without JavaScript so they load fast. Cmd+K does nothing on those. Use the site navigation to get back into the app first.
On iOS: On iPhone there is no keyboard shortcut. Explore is the search tab, and its field prompts you with an example name rather than a list of what it accepts.
What you can search for
- Teams — opens Games filtered to that team.
- Games — opens that game’s odds comparison.
- Players — takes you to that player’s bets in that game.
- Markets — "passing yards", "first basket", and shorthand like "o/u".
- +EV bets — grouped under Top Edges, one row per selection, each carrying the edge on the best-priced book.
- Go To shortcuts — Bet Feed, Games, Bet Check, Boost Builder, My Bets, Settings, Pricing, and every calculator in the toolbox. Typing "kelly" jumps straight into the Kelly calculator.
Leagues and sportsbooks are not searchable. There is no result row for "NBA" or "DraftKings" — filter by league on Games or in the bet feed instead.
How the palette’s results are put together
- 1
Instant matches, from the first character
The games, players and markets on the current slate — plus every team we carry — are cached in your browser and matched locally, with typo tolerance: "ynkees" still finds the Yankees, "brunsen" still finds Jalen Brunson.
- 2
Live edge search, after you stop typing
A moment after your last keystroke, the app asks the server for current +EV bets matching the text. This half needs at least two characters, so a single letter gives you instant matches only.
Rows tell you different things: a game row shows how many edges it holds, or its start time; an edge row shows the book and an EV badge; a team row shows how many games it has. An EV badge is a statement about price, not a prediction — see Bet badges explained.
When a player search finds games but no props
The live edge search matches your text against the home team, the away team, the selection and the market name — deliberately not the player column. Where a prop’s own text does not repeat the name, searching a player returns his game and an empty Top Edges list, even though his props are live.
Click the Players row instead of scanning Top Edges. From the command palette that opens the bet feed filtered to that player in that game; from the Games search bar it opens the game with the market picker already filled in with the name.
Before you type: recents, trending and your teams
Open the palette without typing and it shows Recent Searches, Trending (the biggest pre-game edges), Your Teams, Upcoming Games, and Quick Actions — Check a bet, Browse upcoming games, Bet Feed. Picking a team result adds it to Your Teams.
Recents live in your browser, not your account
The last few searches and your saved teams are stored on the device you typed them on, so a different browser or phone starts empty and clearing site data wipes them. The text you type is never sent to our analytics — only how long the query was and how many results came back.
The Games search bar: voice, bet slips and two empty states
The bar on Games groups its matches (Games, Teams, Players, Markets) and shows three of each with a See all link. Multi-word queries like "mahomes passing yards" also produce a Smart Matches group that pairs the name with the market. Two extras live in the field itself:
- Voice — the microphone button dictates your search. It only appears in browsers that support voice input.
- Paste a bet slip — paste a screenshot into the field and DawBets hands it straight to Bet Check instead of searching.
| What the dropdown says | What happened | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| No results for '…' | The search ran and genuinely matched nothing. | Check the spelling, or try a team or player name. |
| Search is temporarily unavailable | The odds index could not be loaded at all. | Wait a moment and try again — nothing was wrong with your search. |
On iOS: The iPhone app draws the same distinction: "No matches" for a query that found nothing, and "Can’t reach DawBets" with a Try again button when the connection failed.
Why some results show no edge numbers
Search obeys the same tier rules as the rest of the app: on the free tier, edge rows come back without the EV figure, the wager size and the per-book price list. The rows still appear, so you can see that something is priced there and open it.

Common questions
What is the keyboard shortcut for search?
Cmd+K on a Mac, Ctrl+K on Windows, from any page inside the app. Pressing it again closes the palette. It will not work on the help centre or the learn guides, which ship without JavaScript on purpose.
Why does searching a player show games but no props?
The live edge search matches team names, the selection and the market name — not the player column. Click the Players row in the results instead: from the palette it opens the bet feed filtered to that player in that game.
Why does it say search is unavailable?
The odds index could not be fetched, usually a brief outage on the data side. It is worded differently from "No results" on purpose, so an outage is never reported to you as an honest answer that nothing matched. Try again in a moment.
Can I clear my recent searches?
There is no clear button today. Recent searches are only the last few you ran, kept in your browser, so new ones push old ones out — and clearing your browser’s site data for DawBets removes them entirely.
Are my searches sent anywhere?
The text you type is never recorded. Recent searches and saved teams stay in your browser. Our analytics see only the length of a query, how many results came back, and whether the search failed.
