Widgets, Control Center and Siri

Quick answer
DawBets ships four iPhone widgets — Top +EV, Today’s Slate, Bankroll and Form — plus a Control Center button and five Siri shortcuts. None of them fetch anything on their own: they show what the app last loaded. Opening DawBets once is what fills an empty widget in and refreshes a stale one.
The four widgets

Bankroll and Form read your tracked-bet record, which needs Plus. Until you track a bet they show an invitation — Track bets to see your bankroll, Track bets to see your form — not a number.

Long-press an empty spot on the Home Screen
Tap Edit, then Add Widget, and search DawBets. On iOS 17 it is the + in the corner instead.

Pick the widget, then the size
Swipe between sizes on the preview card before tapping Add Widget.

For the Lock Screen, long-press it instead
Tap Customize, tap the widget area, choose DawBets. Form has no Lock Screen size.
Settings live inside the widget
There is no widget page in DawBets Settings — long-press a placed widget and choose Edit Widget.
- Today’s Slate → Minimum edge (%) — only bets at or above it count toward the number on the card. The slider runs from 1% to 5% and starts at 2%, and the card prints the threshold it actually applied.
- Bankroll and Form → Show — *Amounts*, *Percentages only* (ROI and close rate, no dollar figures), or *Hidden until tapped*. One choice governs both widgets.
If people can read your screen
Set Show to *Percentages only* or *Hidden until tapped*. Money on these widgets is privacy-sensitive either way, so iOS redacts it on a locked Lock Screen.
Why a widget goes quiet
Widgets never fetch anything themselves. The app writes what it just loaded into a shared store each time the feed or My Bets refreshes, and the widget renders that. Every quiet state has one fix.
- "Nothing loaded yet" — nothing has reached this device. Open DawBets and let the feed load once.
- Odds printed in grey — old enough to be worth re-checking, so they lose their full-strength ink.
- "Odds have moved / Open DawBets for fresh picks" — older still. Rather than advertise a price it cannot stand behind, the widget hides the odds.
- "Form needs a refresh" / "Ledger needs a refresh" — the ledger widgets hold on far longer, since a settled record only moves when bets grade — but never a weeks-old figure as today’s.
Note
Reading a stored snapshot instead of the network costs no background data or battery. Signing out wipes them first, so a widget never shows the previous account’s money.
What a Free account sees
The widget still shows the selection, matchup, book and price. Where the edge would go it prints EV locked and Unlock +EV with Plus — never a blurred or invented figure. On the Lock Screen it reads Plus unlocks EV, and Today’s Slate says Edge counts are locked rather than report zero edges it never measured.

Control Center and Siri
On iOS: On iOS 18 and later, Control Center can hold a Today’s Edges button — long-press Control Center, tap Add a Control, search DawBets. It opens the app on the feed and nothing else, so a second press changes nothing.
Five shortcuts ship, each accepting a few phrasings, and every phrase has to include the app’s name. Three answer out loud without opening anything:
- "Hey Siri, DawBets top bet" — the current leader, its price, its book and its edge.
- "Hey Siri, tonight’s bets in DawBets" — how many +EV bets are left tonight, plus the best one.
- "Hey Siri, check my open bets in DawBets" — how many are live, how much is at risk, and what settles next.
The other two open the app: "Open my bets in DawBets" and "Show the DawBets feed". All five appear in the Shortcuts app for your own automations.
Siri reads what the app last saw
With no fresh snapshot, the top-bet answer falls back to a signed-out request that strips the edge — so even a paying subscriber can hear "The edge is locked". Open the app and ask again. The open-bets answer has no fallback: rather than guess at your money, it says so.
Spotlight and troubleshooting
Upcoming games and your own open tracked bets are indexed into iPhone Spotlight, so pulling down on the Home Screen and typing a team name finds them. That index is on-device and private, and your bets leave it when you sign out.

Common questions
Why does my widget say "Nothing loaded yet"?
Widgets show what the app last loaded, and nothing has reached this device yet. Open DawBets, let the feed load once, and the widget fills in on its own.
My widget stopped showing odds and says they have moved.
The prices it was holding got old enough that showing them would mislead you, so it hides them on purpose. Tap the widget to open the feed; the widget refreshes behind you.
Can I hide my profit on the Bankroll widget?
Yes. Long-press the widget, tap Edit Widget, and set Show to Percentages only or Hidden until tapped. The same choice applies to the Form widget.
Do the widgets use battery or data in the background?
No. They never fetch anything themselves — they read a snapshot the app already wrote, so all the network work happened while you had DawBets open.
Why does Siri say the edge is locked when I pay for Plus?
Siri prefers the snapshot the signed-in app wrote. With no fresh one it falls back to a public request that strips the edge for everybody. Open DawBets once, then ask again.
Is there a DawBets widget for iPad?
No. DawBets is built for iPhone only — there is no iPad app, and an iPad runs the iPhone one in compatibility mode, so there is no iPad widget to place.
