Quick answer

Most iPhone problems are one of five things: a padlock, which means your plan is hiding a number that does exist; a widget the app has not refreshed since you last opened it; a switch a notification needs; a link that opened Safari instead of the app; or an expired session. An expired session loses nothing — your bets live on your account, not on the phone.

Padlocks, blanks, and a hidden edge

A padlock is a promise: that number exists, and upgrading reveals it. The app checks a companion field that reaches every plan before drawing one, so nobody pays and comes back to an em-dash.

A blank with no padlock is the opposite case, and it catches experienced users out: no fair price was ever worked out for that quote, so the bet is there for price comparison only. Upgrading would reveal nothing.

On the Free plan

EV% is hidden on every bet but the day’s top one, which stays visible so you see a real number rather than a padlock. The fair (no-vig) price is never stripped — every plan gets it.

Widgets never fetch on their own — they draw a snapshot the app wrote the last time you had it open, so a widget is only ever as current as your last visit. Open DawBets and let the feed load is the fix for almost every widget complaint. If it stays empty after that, check you are still signed in: signing out wipes the snapshots on purpose.

On iOS: iOS decides how often a widget may redraw, so a fresh snapshot can take a few minutes to land. Widgets, Control Center and Siri reads each quiet state — Nothing loaded yet, dimmed odds, Odds have moved — and covers the widgets’ own settings.

Notifications and the Lock Screen card

A bet alert needs four things at once, and Settings → Alerts → Bet alerts names whichever one is missing:

A Plus or Pro plan — bet alerts are a paid feature.
An iOS notification grant. If you declined the prompt, iOS never asks again: fix it in iOS Settings → DawBets → Notifications.
The account-wide Notifications switch, in Settings → Alerts → Notifications.
The Bet alerts switch itself.

The Daily Slate card has two switches — DawBets’ own Daily Slate toggle under Settings → Alerts → Notifications → Lock Screen, and iOS’s Live Activities switch — and the settings row says which is holding it back. Links that open Safari, and “your session expired”

Confirmation emails open the website, not the app. On an iPhone that page offers an Open the app link — use it rather than retyping anything.
A password reset started inside the app comes back to the app. One started on the website stays there.
Shared bet links do open the app, landing on the game the bet belongs to. If the link is old or the lookup fails, you get handed back to the web page.
Referral links always open the website, deliberately — the friend’s offer only exists on that rail. See Refer a friend.

“Your session expired” means this device’s sign-in aged out or was revoked — usually a long gap, a password change, or a sign-out elsewhere. Sign in again and everything returns: bets, stats and presets live on your account, not the phone. See Staying signed in.

Buying, restoring and double billing

Your plan is the higher of what the server says and what the App Store says, so buying on either rail unlocks the other. If you already pay through dawbets.com, the app shows Managed on dawbets.com instead of plans — change or cancel it on the website. Do not buy twice

Buying in the app while a website subscription is live starts a second, separate subscription — Apple and Stripe cannot see each other. If access is missing after a purchase, try Restore purchases: it re-syncs with the App Store and reports whether you ended up entitled. See App Store vs. dawbets.com billing.

Working as intended, not broken

Three things people go hunting for on iPhone are not there to find: bet-slip scanning (removed — send a screenshot to Bet Check on the web instead), Refer a friend, and an iPad layout. DawBets on iPhone says where each one lives instead. One that only looks missing: a shared bet link does open the app, landing on the game the bet belongs to rather than a standalone bet card. That is the design, not a failed lookup.

Common questions

Why is the EV blank on this bet with no padlock?

No fair price was ever worked out for that particular quote, so there is no edge to show at any plan level. A padlock only appears when the number exists and your plan is what is holding it back.

My widget has not updated in hours. Is it broken?

Almost certainly not. Widgets never fetch on their own — they show the snapshot the app wrote the last time you opened it. Open DawBets, let the feed load, and the widget redraws.

Can I scan a bet slip with my camera?

Not in the iPhone app — that feature was removed. Use [Bet Check](/bet-check) on dawbets.com, or track the bet from its card in the app.

Why did a DawBets link open in Safari?

Confirmation emails open the website today; that page has an "Open the app" link back in. A password reset you start inside the app returns to the app. Referral links always stay on the website by design.

How do I contact support from my iPhone?

Settings → Help & Legal → Email support, or Settings → Send feedback. The email carries your app version, iOS version and plan so we can triage it, and nothing identifying your account beyond the address you write from.
