Payment failed or billing looks wrong
Troubleshooting · Web & iOS · Last updated August 28, 2026
Quick answer
A failed payment does not switch your plan off. The charge sits past due, your card is retried automatically over the following weeks, and every paid feature keeps working the whole time. Fix it by opening Settings and tapping Update payment method on the red banner — or, if you subscribed in the iPhone app, in your App Store account.
Your plan stays on while a payment is failing
A declined card does not lock you out. The subscription goes past due, your payment provider keeps retrying automatically over the next few weeks, and Plus or Pro features carry on working the entire time. In Settings, the My Subscription card shows "Payment past due" and a red banner: We couldn’t charge your card. Update your payment method to stay on your plan.
If every retry fails, the subscription ends and the account moves to Free. Nothing is clawed back or deleted — tracked bets, saved sportsbooks and settings are all still there if you resubscribe later.
Update your card
- 1
Open Settings
Go to Settings and scroll to My Subscription.
- 2
Tap Update payment method
The red banner’s button opens the billing portal our payment provider hosts. Manage billing at the bottom of the card goes to the same place.
- 3
Add the new card
Update your payment method there. Faster still: the "We couldn’t charge your card" email usually carries a Pay Invoice Now button that settles the open invoice in one step.
- 4
Come back to DawBets
The portal returns you to Settings, which resyncs. If the banner is gone, you are done.
Those buttons need a web billing account
The billing portal only knows about subscriptions bought on dawbets.com. If you have never checked out on the web, Manage billing is not shown in Settings at all — see App Store vs web billing.
Three kinds of decline
| What happened | What you get | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Ordinary decline — expired card, insufficient funds | Email: "We couldn’t charge your card" | Pay the invoice from that email, or update the card in Settings |
| Your bank wants extra verification (3-D Secure) | Email: "Action required: confirm your DawBets payment" | Open Confirm Payment in that email and finish the check at your bank |
| Your bank returned a fraud, lost or stolen code | No email at all — deliberately | Call your bank first, then add a different card in Settings |
No email, but a red banner?
That is the third row. When a bank flags a charge as fraud-related we do not email the cardholder — the card may be in someone else’s hands. Our own team is alerted instead. Treat it as a bank problem first.
You paid but the app still shows Free
The new plan arrives from the payment provider seconds after checkout. The success page waits about half a minute, then says your subscription is being activated rather than claiming failure. Reload Settings; if you are still on Free minutes later, contact support.
On iOS: If an App Store purchase went through but the app did not unlock, the paywall says "Your payment went through — we’re still turning it on" and offers Finish setting up. Tap it, or reopen the app in a minute. You are not charged again — that button only re-sends the receipt. Restore Purchases there does the same for a purchase bought on another device.
A known rough edge
The subscription card on dawbets.com reads your web billing only, so an App Store subscriber can see "You’re on Free." on it while the badge above and every paid feature say otherwise. Your access is fine — App Store vs web billing has that one in full.
Charged twice, or charged after cancelling
A genuine double charge is almost always one subscription per rail: one bought through Apple in the iPhone app, one on dawbets.com. They are separate contracts — cancelling one does not touch the other. Several guards stand in the way:
- Web checkout refuses a plan you already hold, and each rail refuses a purchase while the other one is live — App Store vs web billing covers both blocks and how to switch rails on purpose.
- Repeated Subscribe taps inside the same hour collapse into a single checkout rather than two.
- Money-moving buttons are rate-limited. If one is temporarily refused, wait and try once.
- If two live subscriptions somehow exist on one account, checkout stops with Multiple active subscriptions found — please contact support.
A charge that lands after you cancelled is usually one of the same two things, plus a third. Cancel subscription hands you to our payment provider’s own page and nothing is cancelled until you confirm there, so check that Settings reads Canceling on a date. The other rail may still be running. And a renewal already invoiced before the cancellation landed still stands — cancelling is not a refund, it ends the plan at the date Settings shows. Upgrade, downgrade, or cancel walks each route.
Invoices, receipts and renewal warnings
Manage billing in Settings opens the billing portal: invoices, receipts and your card details — for web subscriptions. App Store purchases are receipted by Apple, and Request a refund on the iPhone Subscription screen opens Apple’s refund flow.
Every successful web charge emails you a receipt naming the plan and the amount. Annual subscribers also get a heads-up email about a week before renewal with the plan, the date and the amount — no action needed, but it is the moment to change or cancel your plan. Current prices live on the pricing page.
On iOS: When an App Store renewal fails, Apple keeps your access through its billing grace period and the Subscription screen shows a Payment issue row with an update-payment action. Once that grace period ends, access pauses while Apple retries.
Still stuck?
Tell support four things and it is usually solved on the first reply: the email on your DawBets account, the checkout email if it differs, whether you bought through the App Store or on dawbets.com, and roughly when the charge happened. How to reach us.
Bet responsibly
Sports betting is 21+ and legal only in some states. A subscription pays for an odds-analysis tool, never for income — never fund it, or a bankroll, with money you need. If betting has stopped being fun, we have resources here.
Common questions
I cancelled but I was charged again.
Three things cause that. The cancellation may never have completed — Cancel subscription hands you to our payment provider’s own page, and nothing is cancelled until you confirm there, so check that Settings reads "Canceling on" a date. Or you hold a second subscription on the other rail: an App Store subscription and a web one are separate contracts, and cancelling one leaves the other running. Or the renewal was invoiced before the cancellation landed — cancelling is not a refund, so the period you were charged for still runs. If none of those fit, contact support with the charge date.
My card was declined. Have I lost my plan?
No. The subscription goes past due, your card is retried automatically for weeks, and your plan keeps working throughout. Open Settings and tap Update payment method on the red banner to end the retries early.
Why didn’t I get an email about my failed payment?
If your bank returned a fraud, lost or stolen code, we deliberately send you no email — the card may be in someone else’s hands. Contact your bank, then add a different card in Settings.
I paid but DawBets still shows the Free plan.
The confirmation lands from the payment provider seconds after checkout. Reload Settings. If you are still on Free a few minutes later, contact support with the email address you used at checkout.
I think I’ve been charged twice.
Check both rails: a subscription bought in the iPhone app through Apple and one bought on dawbets.com are separate, and cancelling one leaves the other running. Cancel the one you do not want where you bought it, then contact support.
Where do I find my invoices?
In the billing portal, opened by Manage billing in Settings — that covers web subscriptions. App Store purchases are receipted by Apple and appear in your Apple purchase history, not in our portal.
Will I be warned before my annual plan renews?
Yes. Annual subscribers get an email about a week beforehand naming the plan, the renewal date and the amount. Monthly subscribers get no advance notice — just a receipt after each charge.
