What is DawBets?

Quick answer

DawBets watches the odds at every sportsbook it covers, calculates what each bet should really cost, and surfaces the ones where a book is offering you a better price than the bet is worth. It is a pricing tool, not a picks service — nobody here is predicting who wins.

The one-paragraph version

Every sportsbook builds a margin into its odds — the vig. Because books disagree with each other, and because the sharpest books price games more accurately than the rest, it is possible to work out what a bet is genuinely worth and then find the book offering more than that. That gap is called expected value, or EV, and it is the only thing DawBets looks for.

We do not predict games. We price them, compare that price against every book we track, and hand you the ones that are mispriced in your favour — with the size of the edge, a suggested wager, and a link straight to the bet.

What actually happens when you open the app

  1. 1

    We read the odds

Prices from every sportsbook we cover are read continuously from one live board. A row we have not re-checked recently is dropped rather than shown as current. Free and signed-out feeds are served a snapshot a step behind that board on purpose — why your feed says delayed.

  2. 2

We remove the vig to get a fair price

Sharp books’ prices are stripped of their margin to estimate the true probability. That is the "fair price" printed on every bet. See Devigging explained if you want the arithmetic.

  3. 3

We compare that against every book

Where a book’s price beats the fair price, the bet is priced in your favour — positive expected value. Prices that fall short of fair are still listed, further down, so you can see what a bad price looks like.

  4. 4

We rank and rate what is left

The feed is one list ordered by the size of the edge, biggest first — see how the Bet Feed works. Most bets also carry a badge, so you do not have to interpret raw percentages.

  5. 5

You place it at your book

Tapping a bet hands you off to the sportsbook holding that price, with the selection pre-loaded where the book supports it.

What the badges mean

Most bets carry a badge rating the size of their edge. The rungs are the same everywhere the app prints them:

Must Bet≥ 7% EV · highest confidence
Strong Bet3.5–7% EV · reliable edge
Good Bet0–3.5% EV · small but real edge
Fan Bet−2 to 0% EV · small cost for the fun
Caution Bet< −2% EV · odds are against you

A badge is a statement about price, not about who wins. The top rung still loses plenty of the time; it just loses less often than the price you got implies. Bets we never priced carry no badge at all — see bet badges explained.

Where you can use it

DawBets runs in any browser at dawbets.com, on a laptop or a phone, and there is a native iPhone app as well. One account covers both — the same bets, the same tracking, the same subscription.

The iPhone app is not on the App Store yet. It is built and this page describes how it works, but there is nothing to install today — everything here also works in the browser at dawbets.com, which you can add to your home screen from Safari's Share menu.

On iOS: The iOS app adds home-screen widgets and a live-updating Daily Slate. See DawBets on iPhone.

What DawBets is not

  • Not a tipster or picks service. No one here is telling you who is going to win. We tell you which prices are wrong.
  • Not a guarantee. An edge shows up over hundreds of bets if it shows up at all, never over one afternoon. Losing weeks are normal and expected.
  • Not a sportsbook. You place and settle bets at your own books; we never hold money.
  • Not a way to beat a market that has no edge in it. When little is mispriced, there is little worth taking at the top of the feed. That is the honest outcome, not a bug.

Bet responsibly

Sports betting is 21+ and legal only in some states. An edge is not income — never stake money you need. If betting has stopped being fun, read our responsible-gambling resources.

Common questions

Does DawBets guarantee I will win money?

No. DawBets finds bets priced in your favour, which is what makes a profit possible over a large number of bets — but variance is real and losing stretches are normal. Anyone guaranteeing betting profits is lying to you.

Do I need to understand expected value to use it?

No. The badge on a card summarises the size of the edge so you do not have to read percentages, and the card prints a suggested stake alongside it. If you want the arithmetic behind both, [reading a bet card](/help/reading-a-bet-card) takes the card apart number by number.

Do I need accounts at lots of sportsbooks?

You will find more bets with more books, because the edge comes from books disagreeing. Two or three of the majors available in your state is a workable start.

Is DawBets legal?

DawBets is an odds-analysis tool, not a sportsbook, and does not take bets. Whether you can bet at all depends on your state — see [where DawBets works](/help/state-legality-and-where-dawbets-works).
